Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.--The Trine University defense held the Adrian College men's lacrosse team scoreless for two quarters on Wednesday evening to take an 11-5 win in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

FOR ADRIAN
= Senior Jake Waldrup led the Bulldogs with two goals and an assist.
= Junior defender Cody Schmitt produced a season-high four caused turnovers and scooped up six ground balls--both game highs. He also had an assist.
= Senior goalie Brett Farrelly stopped 13 shots to help keep the Bulldogs in the game, plus he recorded four ground balls.
= Freshman Morgan Caldwell registered his first career goal in the third quarter.
THE OPPOSITION
= Nick Maher led all student-athletes with three goals, three assists and six total points.
= Jordan Lelito went 9-for-10 on face-offs, made five ground balls and had four caused turnovers.
= Lucas Radice won six of eight face-offs and posted three ground balls.
= Paul Carlquist also had a hat trick and had three ground balls.
= Conner Putman contributed three assists.
= Travis Lores made five saves and had three ground balls to improve to 6-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= Trine won the first quarter 3-2, second 2-0 and fourth 4-0. The Thunder never trailed.
= Senior Doug Boyd got Adrian on the scoreboard to cut TU's lead in half, 2-1, with 11 minutes and 59 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
= After Maher's second tally of the stanza to restore the two-goal lead, sophomore Michael Turner closed the scoring with a man-up goal at 5:03 to make it 3-2 Trine.
= The Thunder led in several statistical categories: clears (22-25, 19-26), ground balls (40-26), shots (40-19) and shots on goal (24-10).
= The teams combined for four goals in a 3:36 span early in the third quarter to see the Thunder go up 7-4 at the 11:09 mark. Waldrup scored with just 3 seconds left to make it 7-5.
= Trine scored the game's last four goals in the fourth quarter to seal the road win.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= The Bulldogs still lead the all-time series 8-1.
= Trine passed very well by getting seven assists on 11 goals.
= Farrelly has 160 saves on the season for second in the conference, establishing a personal record (150 last season) while surpassing Kevin Lerg (148 in 2014) for third place on the school single-season chart. Farrelly needs nine saves to become Adrian's single-season leader.
