Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's lacrosse team turned in its best defensive effort of the season, and senior Jake Waldrup provided the offensive spark, as the visiting Bulldogs downed Kalamazoo College, 8-3, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest on Tuesday evening.

= Waldrup led all scorers with four goals on seven shots, and he had two ground balls.
= Classmate Doug Boyd assisted on three goals and scooped up a game-high six ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= With the game scoreless in the second quarter, freshman Conor Redden took a feed from Boyd for the first of his two goals on the day and started a 5-0 Adrian run with 13 minutes and 32 seconds remaining.
= The K-zoo offense put Adrian on its heels with 11 shots (AC had one) in the opening stanza, but the Bulldogs kept the Hornets off the scoresheet.
= Boyd assisted on Waldrup's first goal with 1:47 to go in the first half to send Adrian into the intermission up 2-0.
= Trailing 5-0 in the third quarter, Wieland scored unassisted to put the Hornets on the board.
= Adrian sealed the win with three goals (Redden, junior Justin Polischuk, Waldrup) in a 3:17 span beginning with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
= Besides the score, Adrian held statistical advantages in ground balls (30-26), shots on goal (16-10) and clears (17-20, 16-21).
= The man-down defense for the Bulldogs was perfect, killing off all nine K-zoo man-advantage opportunities.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= Adrian has won back-to-back games by outscoring opponents 21-15.
= Junior defender Cody Schmitt had one caused turnover tonight to extend his Adrian all-time record of 82. He also lists third on the school's career ground balls chart with 168.
= The Bulldogs haven't allowed an opponent to score man-up in the last 12 chances--a span of the last three games.
