Sophomore Peyton Gasche Sets School Record with 11 Points at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind.--Sophomore attack Peyton Gasche made oatmeal of the Earlham defense on Saturday with an Adrian single-game record with 11 points to power the Bulldogs to a 17-6 victory over the Quakers in non-conference men's lacrosse action.

THE BASICS
= Final Score: Adrian College 17, Earlham College 6

= Location: Darrell Beane Stadium; Weather conditions: Cloudy, 46 degrees, Wind N 4 mph

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs, 3-1 overall; Earlham Quakers, 0-3 overall

TOP 'DAWGS
= Sophomore Max Leventis was dominant in the "X" by winning 23 of 25 face-offs with an eye-popping 22 ground balls.

= Classmate Chris French pumped in four goals among five points.

= Gasche finished with five goals and six assists--both career bests. He also had five ground balls.

= Freshman Colton Hart matched Gasche with a game-high five goals to set a personal record.

= Sophomore long-stick midfielder Christian Aurand contributed a game-high four caused turnovers and he had five ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
= Dan O'Donnell recorded his first collegiate hat trick.

= Goalie Jacob Cope charted a season-high 15 saves.

= Avery Rush-Elias led Earlham with six ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
= Adrian outshot Earlham, 46-26, and had a 56-24 advantage in ground balls.

= The Bulldogs darted to a quick start with a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. Adrian outscored Earlham 6-1 in the second to take a commanding 11-2 lead by halftime.

= Adrian built its largest lead of 17-4 with back-to-back goals by Hart six seconds apart to begin the fourth quarter.

= Earlham went 0-for-8 on man-up opportunities.  

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= The previous school record for points in a game was 10, accomplished eight times. Gasche had three goals and seven assists against La Roche last March 17.

= Gasche has taken over the overall scoring lead in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with 27 points on 14 assists (2nd place) and 13 goals (t-5th).

= Leventis broke his school record of 19 ground balls with 22 this afternoon. He is second in the MIAA with 46 on the season.

= French ranks fourth in the conference with 15 goals.

= The Bulldogs have won three games in a row for the first time since 2015.

= Today marked the first meeting between the schools in men's lacrosse.

UP NEXT
= Adrian will make its home debut on Kapnick Field at Docking Stadium on Tuesday (4 p.m.) versus Heidelberg.
