ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team look to continue its hot start to the season with a pair of wins this week against Kenyon and Wabash. The Bulldogs are on the road this week traveling to Kenyon on Wednesday before heading to Wabash on Saturday. In the recent USILA poll, Adrian picked up 10 votes for the second consecutive week with the help of its 4-1 record on the year.
The Bulldogs opened the season with an overtime win against Siena Height at the end of February followed up by a 15-3 blowout over Lake Forest. Adrian was then tasked with Earlham College where they came away with another blowout victory at 24-5 before losing by one to Westminster last Thursday. The Bulldogs got back on the winning trail with a 16-10 win over Chatham at home last Saturday.
The Bulldogs have netted 76 goals on the year so far while allowing just 39. Freshman
Michael Jonas leads the way for Adrian with 14 goals on the year with 13 assists for a team-high 27 points.
Chris French has added eight goals with 12 assists while
Peyton Gasche followed with 12 goals and six assists.
Cameron Reed has led the defense with ten caused turnovers followed by seven from
AJ Hayes.
Max Leventis has been the leader at the face off dot winning 81 of his 109 face offs for a winning percentage of .743, and a team-high 45 ground balls.
Sam Spangler has started all five games in goal this season holding a 4-1 record. Spangler has averaged 8.05 goals allowed per game with 41 saves for a saver percentage of .539.
As a team, Adrian ranks fifth in face off winning percentage in the country at .750 with Leventis ranking ninth as an individual. In the MIAA, the Bulldogs rank second in assists, third in caused turnovers per game, first in clearing percentage, first in face off percentage, and first in ground balls. Adrian also ranks first in the MIAA in man-up offense while ranking 18th in the country. The Bulldogs also rank 18th in the country in opponent clear percentage.
Kenyon comes in to the week with a 4-1 record with its most recent game being an 11-6 loss to No. 8 Franklin and Marshall College. Wabash comes into the week with a 3-3 record and sit on a two-game winning streak.
Adrian will travel to Kenyon for a 4:00 PM start time on Wednesday before traveling to Wabash on Saturday for a 2:00 PM start time.
