ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 2 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team was back in action this week to kick off 2024, playing on Monday and Thursday.
The Bulldogs opened the week with an exhibition win over Canadian Junior team, the Andre-Laurendeau Boomerang of the QCHL. Adrian and A-L battled at the Arrington Ice Arena, with the Bulldogs coming out on top, 5-1. The Bulldogs then hosted Western Michigan in the first regular season game of the new year, defeating the Stallions at home, 9-3, in a GLCHL contest. The Bulldogs were also scheduled to take on Eastern Michigan tonight (1/13) at the Arrington Ice Arena, but the game was canceled.
In Thursday's defeat over WMU, the Bulldogs put forward 55 shots and received goals from
Sebastian Smith and
Sam Spaedt who both had two, and singles from
Brodie Thornton,
Matthew DiCesare,
Matteo DiGiulio, and
Dylan Gajewski. Freshman
Hunter Allen also scored his first ACHA goal in the win.
Ethan McLaughlin provided four assists,
Caleb Minns collected three assists, while
Justin Jamer and
David Dell each grabbed two assists. Goaltender
Noah Decottignies made sixteen saves on nineteen shots faced in the Adrian victory.
The No. 2 MD1 Bulldogs will be back in action next week for three games as they take on No. 26 University of Michigan-Dearborn in a home and home series on Tuesday in Dearborn and Thursday at the Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs will wrap up their week at home on Saturday, January 20 at 12:00 PM for a Senior Day game against Trine University of Men's ACHA Division 2.
