ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team received three votes in this week's USILA National Coaches Division III Poll.
For the first time this season, and only the second time in the last ten years, the Bulldogs earn themselves national recognition. Adrian opened its season last week at home against Ohio Northern University at Docking Stadium. The Bulldogs and Polar Bears battled back and forth in an exciting home opening match for the Bulldogs, who eventually came out with an astonishing 12-11 triple overtime victory.
Of the remaining teams who received votes in this week's poll, the Bulldogs will match-up against one of them in the coming weeks. Adrian (RV, 3) will travel to Kenyon College (RV, 10) on Wednesday, March 13 for a highly-anticipated game at 4:00 PM EST. Other key non-conference match-ups this season include road contests at Westminster (PA) and Otterbein, as well as a home battle with Capital, all happening in March.
Head Coach,
Brett Wetzel, was happy with his team's opening game but knows they have only just embarked on a long and tough journey this season. He shared his thoughts on their opening win and this week's USILA National Coaches Poll.
"The guys battled tough last week and fought through some injuries to get that win. ONU really tried to grind our roster down and our guys stepped up when it really counted, especially on the defensive end. As for the national recognition, this is an exciting achievement for this team and the program. We recognize that this is just a first step in what we hope will be a season full of recognition and success."
The Bulldogs next game will be this Saturday, March 2 at Oberlin College. Face off will be at 1:00 PM.
