HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the 2024 MIAA Conference Awards for Men's Lacrosse on Wednesday afternoon. Five members of the Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team earned spots across the First and Second Conference Teams.
Michael Jonas and
Cameron Reed landed on the All-MIAA First Team while
Riley Edwards,
Brandon Hoerauf, and
Sam Spangler earned their way onto the All-MIAA Second Team for the 2024 season.
For Jonas (Junior / Attack / Holland, Michigan), the selection was the second time earning a conference award in his career. Last season, Jonas landed on the All-MIAA Second Team after falling one goal shy (54) of an Adrian College Men's Lacrosse program record for goals scored. Serving as one of the team's captains this season, Jonas has garnered 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points, helping the Bulldogs reach the conference tournament for the fourth straight campaign. Jonas was also named an MIAA Athlete of the Week earlier this month. In three seasons with the Bulldogs up to this point, the skilled offensive threat has compiled 120 goals and 83 assists for 203 points, along with 326 shot attempts in 49 games played.
Reed (Junior / Defense / Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) earns his third straight All-MIAA honor after landing on the Second Team in 2022 and the First Team in 2023. Reed set the program record for caused turnovers in a season (37) during his freshman year before shattering that same record as a sophomore, finishing his second year with 50 CT's. This season, Reed has once again been a force for the Bulldogs on the defensive end while also aiding the offense. Reed has registered seven goals and four assists for eleven points while also contributing 89 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers in 15 games played so far. Additionally, Reed earned MIAA Athlete of the Week on two separate occasions this season. In three years to begin his career with the Bulldogs, the Canadian has collected 16 goals, 9 assists, 25 points, 204 ground balls, and 126 caused turnovers in 49 games played.
Edwards (Junior / Midfield / Schomberg, Ontario, Canada) has burst onto the scene this season for the Bulldogs exploding for 21 goals, ten more than his previous best as a freshman in 2022. The Second Team All-MIAA honor is the first of Edwards' career as a Bulldog. Edwards, one of the team's three captains, currently has 23 points and 45 shot attempts in 15 games so far, playing a key role in the Bulldogs success in 2024, advancing them to the conference tournament.
Hoerauf (Junior / Small Stick Midfield / Macomb, Michigan) also earned his first All-MIAA accolade in his third year with the Bulldogs in 2024. The small stick midfielder has taken increasingly large steps to becoming one of Adrian's top threats offensively. Currently, Hoerauf holds a stat line of 20 goals and 6 assists for 26 points, as well as 72 shot attempts and 32 ground balls in 15 games played. Hoerauf's production in 2024 also includes two hat-tricks, both being on the road.
Spangler (Junior / Goalie / Canton, Michigan) collects his third straight All-MIAA Second Team honor as backstop for the Bulldogs. This season has seen Spangler play the majority of minutes in goal for Adrian, so far collecting eight wins, a 9.65 goals-against-average, and a 58.6 save percentage. Spangler has started all fifteen games for Adrian in 2024, seeing over 826 minutes of action as the team heads into the MIAA conference tournament. In his Bulldog tenure, Spangler has 24 wins next to a 9.63 goals-against-average and a 57.1 save percentage in 40 starts.
