ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team has three new individual record holders at the top of their record books upon the 2024 season.
Michael Jonas,
Cameron Reed, and
Sam Spangler have all set respective individual records after their successful Junior campaigns.
Jonas set a new program record for individual assists in a single season with 40, passing previous record holder, David Monroe, who had 37 in 2012. Reed established the program record for individual caused turnovers in a career with 127, surpassing previous holder, Cody Schmitt, who finished his Adrian career with 114 from 2014-2017. Finally, Spangler now holds the program record for saves in a single season after stopping 205 shots in goal throughout 2024; moving past previous record holder, Brett Farrelly, who made 193 saves in 2016.
Jonas finished the 2024 campaign with 71 points as Adrian's top attacker, earning a spot on the All-MIAA First Team. On April 23, in a game against Alma College, Jonas also set the program record for individual assists in a single game with eight. In three seasons as a Bulldog so far, Jonas has the potential to set numerous program records, most notably goals, assists, and points. With 207 career points and a season to go, the Michigan native is only 10 goals, 28 assists, and 27 points shy of the career program lead for each category.
Reed led his team once again in the caused turnover category during the 2024 season, claiming his third straight All-MIAA accolade. After setting the program record for CT's in a single season as a Freshman (37), Reed followed it up by breaking his own record with 50 caused turnovers as a Sophomore. In his Junior season, Reed totaled 40 caused turnovers, placing him in the top-three spots of the program record book for individual CT's in a single season. With 127 caused turnovers and one season left on his plate, Reed can continue to cement himself as one of Adrian's most valuable defenders the program has ever seen.
Spangler has been the go-to guy for the Bulldogs in goal over the last three seasons. In 2024, Spangler started every game for Adrian as a Junior and was selected to the All-MIAA Second Team for the third straight season. His 205 saves put him at the top of the list for single season saves for the program, while his 478 career saves are only 22 off the program record. Spangler also currently holds the top career save percentage (minimum 150 saves) in Adrian Men's Lacrosse history, holding a 56.8% career number in that category. Another full season in between the pipes for the Bulldogs in 2025 will allow Spangler an opportunity to increase his records and stance as one of the program's top goaltenders historically.
