Rowing Handles Tough Morning Weather Conditions as they Host the Devils Lake Invite

MANITOU BEACH, Mich. – The Adrian College rowing team hosted its annual Devils Lake Invitational on Saturday morning at the Adrian College Boathouse. The Bulldogs welcomed Marietta College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering for three races, including the men's and women's varsity 4+ and the women's varsity 8+.

The rowers battled tough weather conditions, including scattered showers, mid-40s temperatures, and winds of 5-15 mph, which caused choppy waters at the start.

To open the day, Adrian placed third in the Women's Varsity 4+ with a time of 10:17.3 on the 2000-meter course. The men's varsity 4+ also placed third in their race with a time of 7:59.88.

To close out the day, Adrian and Marietta combined to form a varsity 8+ boat consisting of four rowers from each school. The women's 8+ went on to defeat MSOE with a time of 8:53.78, claiming victory in the race. Saturday marked the first time the two schools had combined to create a varsity 8+ boat, resulting in an impressive win.

The Bulldogs will be back in action from April 11-13 in Cherry Hill, N.J., when they compete in the Knecht Cup.
