Johnson Named NCHA Co-Player of the Year; Women's Hockey Claims Eight All-Conference Awards

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) announced its postseason awards for women's hockey on Tuesday afternoon, and the Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team was heavily represented. The Bulldogs earned five NCHA All-Conference selections, three All-Freshman Team honors, and the NCHA Co-Player of the Year award.

Riley Johnson was named All-Conference and selected as the NCHA Co-Player of the Year. Johnson leads the Bulldogs with 50 points on 22 goals and 28 assists. She tops the conference in points and assists while ranking second in goals. Nationally, Johnson ranks third in both points per game and assists per game. Of her 50 total points, 38 have come in conference play, including 17 goals and 21 assists. This marks the second All-Conference selection of her career.

Courtney Ben earned All-Conference honors after posting a team-high 24 goals to go along with 12 assists for 36 points. Her 24 goals lead the NCHA this season. In conference play, Ben recorded 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points. This is also her second career All-Conference selection.

Parker Beyer secured one of the defensive spots on the All-Conference Team. Beyer has totaled 23 points on five goals and 18 assists while leading the team with 35 blocked shots. In conference action, she has contributed four goals and 15 assists for 19 points.

Paige Pomerleau also earned a defensive All-Conference selection. After beginning the season at forward, Pomerleau transitioned back to defense, the position she originally played upon arriving at Adrian. She finished the regular season with 39 points on 21 goals and 18 assists. In conference play, she tallied 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points.

Kiera Stack claimed the goaltender spot on the All-Conference Team. Stack enters the Slaats Cup Semifinals with a 19-5-0 record and seven shutouts. She holds a 1.25 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage overall. In conference play, Stack has allowed just 11 goals for a 0.84 goals-against average, stopping 251 shots for a .958 save percentage. She leads the conference in wins, goals-against average, save percentage, and shutouts.

Maddy Loe was named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team at forward. Loe has recorded 22 points on the season with 10 goals and 12 assists, including 21 conference points on nine goals and 12 assists.

Sophia LaColla earned All-Freshman Team honors on defense after totaling three goals and 13 assists while blocking 25 shots. In conference play, she contributed two goals and 11 assists.

Elizabeth Sturgeon rounded out Adrian's All-Freshman Team selections on defense. She posted 14 points on six goals and eight assists this season, including five goals and four assists in conference play, while blocking 19 shots overall.

The Bulldogs will look to advance to the NCHA Slaats Cup Final this weekend as they host Lake Forest College in the semifinals on Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m.
