Bulldogs Earn the Win in the Snow

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. - Neither the snow or the cold temperatures could stop Mitch Barnard and the Adrian Bulldogs Men's Lacrosse team from finding the net repeatedly in the 19-10 win over Mt. St. Joseph. The senior Barnard scored four goals and won 13 of 18 face offs as the Bulldogs won their first home game of the season, improving to 2-1 overall.

Barnard started out the scoring 13 seconds into the game with a goal from Marcus Rosetter. The Bulldogs then got three goals in a row from senior David Monroe, followed by a goal each from Coady Adamson and John Hudzinski to hold an early 6-0 lead. With time closing out in the first, Brad Higgins found the net with only one second left in the period, as the Bulldogs led the Lions 7-1 after the first quarter, as heavy snow fell from the skies.

The second quarter was much like the first, with the Bulldogs staying in control of the game. Barnard, Tyler Tanguay, A.J. Smith, and T.J. Cook all scored goals in the second, as Cook ended the first half with one goal and three assists, and the Bulldogs ended the half up 11-4.

After Adamson scored his second goal of the game to start the third quarter, the Lions scored three straight to battle back and make the score 12-7. This would be the closest Mt. St. Joseph would come in the game, as Adrian scored the next five goals of the match, and was able to play keep-away for the rest of the contest.

On the game, the Bulldogs held a 22-11 advantage in face offs, and a 48-31 advantage in shots. Kevin Lerg and Matthew Neal split time at goalie, with both sophomore goalies allowing five goals and stopping six shots.

Barnard led the Bulldogs with four goals in the game. Adrian got three goals each from Hudzinski, Monroe, and Adamson. Tanguay and Cook had four assists apiece.

It will be another home game for the Bulldogs later this week, as they will play host to Oberlin at 7:00 pm from the Performance Stadium.
