On to the Final for Men's Lacrosse

ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's lacrosse team cruised into the MIAA Tournament final on Thursday with a 19-6 win over visiting Olivet College in the semifinal. The team will now have a rematch with Albion College whom they defeated last year in the inaugural MIAA Tournament championship. The Bulldogs will host the Britons on Saturday at 3 p.m. for a chance to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Adrian scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed in the contest. Eric Fannell scored twice in the first quarter and Drake Dailey-Chwalibog had a goal and assist in the first 6:15. Mitch Burgin and Adam Findlay also had a first quarter goal as Adrian led 5-2 after 15 minutes.

Adrian really flexed their muscle in the second quarter with eight goals. AC quickly scored the first five goals of the second to take a 10-2 lead. Burgin scored twice and assisted on two goals in the stretch. Fannell, Nicholas Frontczak and Jake Waldrup also scored for the Bulldogs to build an eight-goal advantage.

Burgin and Waldrup also scored within 2:18 before halftime as Burgin scored twice to up his season total to 38. The Bulldogs scored all three goals in the third quarter as Fannell did all of the damage. Clayton Warren scored the first goal of the fourth quarter for Adrian to build a 17-4 lead. Fannell scored his seventh goal of the game on a man-up chance with less than 11 minutes to go. Andy Miller scored his first goal of the season with 4:09 to play to round out the scoring for Adrian.

Kevin Lerg and Brett Farrelly split time in net for the Bulldogs. Lerg made three first half saves and Farrelly made five saves in the second half. Fannell's 10 points is a career-high and his seven goals were also a personal best. Burgin scored five goals for the third time this season. Dailey-Chwalibog recorded five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Zach Kozlowski won 14 faceoffs and registered seven ground balls. Adrian finished 2-for-3 in man-up opportunities while Olivet was 1-for-4.
