Box Score PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.--Senior Brian Killinger paced an 18-hit Adrian College attack with five, and junior Tommy Parsons pitched a complete-game, as the Bulldogs earned a 9-2 victory over Marietta College in the opening game of the Snowbird Collegiate Baseball Classic on Friday.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Killinger led Adrian offensively by tying what's believed to be a school record with five hits, including a double and triple.
= Parsons (2-1) scattered 10 hits--eight of which were singles. He did not issue a walk while striking out five batters. One of the two runs was earned.
= Senior Ian Mikowski added three hits, two runs scored and a stolen base at the top of the order.
= Classmate Ryan Dorow went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and a pair of walks.
= Junior Frank Resto and freshman Gunner Rainey also had multiple-hit games with two.
THE OPPOSITION
= Chandler Palyas, Eric White and Connor Golden had two hits apiece.
= Palyas drove in both MC runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= Parsons held a power Pioneers offense to just eight singles and a pair of runs.
= The Bulldogs broke open a close 3-1 game when they scored three runs in each the sixth and seventh innings.
= In the top of the sixth, junior Brian Guck had the big hit with a two-run single up the middle to build Adrian's advantage to 6-1.
= In the next frame, the Bulldogs got some insurance runs on a Mikowski RBI-single, Killinger RBI-triple and Dorow RBI-single. AC took a commanding 9-1 cushion.
= Marietta loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Parsons held the Pioneers to just one run off a Palyas single through the right side. Parsons struck out the final hitter to end the game.
= Adrian took the lead for good in the fourth. Guck led off with a walk and advanced to second base on a single by Rainey. After a single by Resto to load the bases, sophomore Jason Croci hit a two-out sacrifice fly on a full-count to dead-center field to bring in Guck from third for a 2-1 lead.
= Adrian struck first in the first on a RBI-triple from Dorow and Marietta tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning on a fielder's choice by Palyas.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= The Bulldogs are "receiving votes" (9 points) in this week's D3baseball.com Top 25 poll.
= Marietta was nationally ranked No. 18 in the last D3baseball.com poll and is currently receiving 59 points, putting them No. 27 if it was extrapolated beyond the Top 25.
= Adrian showed no ill-effects of a 12-day layoff between games, striking for a season highs in runs and hits.
= Parsons (2-1) also picked up the victories in Adrian's last two outings. He lowered his earned-run average to 1.50 and has not given up a walk in 24 innings this season.
= The teams combined for 23 runners left on base: Adrian 14, Marietta 9.
= Marietta leads the all-time series 6-2. Adrian's previous win against the then-No. 8 ranked Pioneers came on March 5, 2011, in the second game of a doubleheader, 2-0, right here in Port Charlotte.
